.......a poetical and musical evocation of West Thebes

|
West Thebes spreads out on the Left Bank of the Nile, in Louxor, Upper Egypt. It is there where ancient Thebes along with its traditional life collides with the modern world. They cross and overlap. In the shadow of the pharaonic tombs, next to the famous "Valley of Kings" and the big grave temples swings the daily life of the villages in the mysterious rhythm of their beauty. The essential remains secret towards the many tourists that come from all over the world to see this place. However the bulldozers destroy the villages that were built above the ancient graves: there is a huge archaeologic and touristic project in process.
The poetical and musical evocation has nearly become silent: there are no more words, the language lies now in the music and in the pictures. We are invited to take some time, to listen and to watch, in order to hear thousands of surprising, mysterious, funny and gorgeous stories, as well as tragical ones, that involve us in the apparent chaos of life and death. The superb pictures of Pio Corradi are to be discovered without comments, naked in their power and sensibility. And the music of the trio Afrogarage represents the voice of the poet, the lyrical resonating between singing and braying.
